jenny last visited seoul in the summer, a reference to the letter sent at the end of xoxo. starts in the winter so it’s either 2 or 3 years after the xoxo, probably 2 making the letter be a typo when it was addressed to her college music school - yep confirmed 2 years later
16 they dated
17 xoxo takes place winter to summer
letter sent new years to see jenny over summer (0.5 years after xoxo)
summer (1 year after xoxo) where they saw jenny
18 asap 2 years later. starts in winter
18 now. dated when they were 16
concentrate on english
assemblyman dad and ceo mom
nathanial’s sister mentions a girlfriend
doesn’t want to debut as an idol
learn a lot of korean words related to social structures like younger student
definitely see how korean sori is compared to jenny who’s from LA
toes the moral line as a child of high ranking koreans
learn more about sun
much more korean than asap and a lot more about the music industry
men (sori tells nathaniel) need to wear a shirt in korea even during bed
she loves fun stationary and stuffed animals
mom the ceo of joah entertainment started with funding from sori’s dad
took half the book to get going. now she’s meeting with nathaniel regularly
joah artists can date but it’s hard to avoid negative reactions especially for young artists
sapphic relationship - hairstylist and makeup artist
they feel so real especially when she narrates her life and they cozy up on the couch reading and playing video games together
i love how she sleeps in a bed full of stuffed animals
think it should have gone more into their relationship 2 years ago
it’s frustrating watching her put her mom above nathanial again and again
i feel like sori should be alone and this book shouldn’t have been written
she makes a lot of deals to maintain her parents status
almost felt more chemistry on the date with secretary cha’s nephew
whole book is her trying to protect her mom from a scandal when her mom won’t even give her the time of day
the pacing is off which leads to a rather boring book. everything is resolved in the last 10% with her mom and nathaniel so they’re barely together at all. she also figures out what she’s going to do for a career and resolves things with Hyemi
very K pop and much more korean than xoxo which fits because she’s not american and is the daughter of Joah’s CEO
mentions of Switch, Tomagatchi, and video games which i love
i think splitting perspective between nathaniel and sori could have improved the pacing as most of the book is spent helping Hyemi debut

Super adorable romance! Although the original book that ASAP is a sequel to, XOXO, had a better plot, I have been cheering for Sori and Nathaniel for the longest time. They’re finally getting the happiness they deserve, and I’m happy too.

I really enjoyed XOXO so I was looking forward to reading this book next. I don't think it was as good as XOXO but it definitely holds its own. I think unfortunately the main romantic relationship was the weakest part for me as although I loved the characters, I don't think they were given enough time on page for some of the developments to happen and also the back and forth on will they won't they felt really manufactured. However, it was a big page turner for me and I enjoyed the plotlines. It's a very fun read with the twists and turns and drama. I also liked seeing how the characters from XOXO developed further after leaving school. Overall an enjoyable read.
