dark funny reflective slow-paced

This memoir is funny, engaging and eye opening. It does drag on, and about halfway through I started thinking the story could be told much more concisely. However, it's the author's unique writing style and it's his life story, so I can't knock it.

Classic book, but very crass and sad. Lots of depressing content and sexual content. It brought intimate views of the poverty of Ireland in a wry humour.

Great writing and very detailed descriptions of life in poverty. I did find the ending to be a bit odd and lacking closure. I also found some of the details within this book to be unnecessary.

Frank McCourt use of tragic humor in this book is brilliant, I’ve never in my life thought a book could make me want to cry, laugh, and be so angry. This book is truly makes you feel so many emotions while reading it. I wasn’t a big fan of biographies before read this book, this book made me love reading biographies that tell the struggles of many people up bring with a lighthearted twist to it.
