Quick paced but loved the haunting atmosphere and change in the phantom of the opera story line.

I feel like this needed more tension between the two main characters before the resolution. I cant say i really found the ‘love’ convincing. Also the info dump at the end was a bit unsatisfying.
My least favourite Phantom retelling so far.

Music of the Night is a short, dark and steamy fantasy romance inspired by Phantom of the Opera.

After her fathers death, Aria is left penniless and moves to the mysterious High Tower, which is known for its theater and late night debauchery. The Count of High Tower takes her in as his ward. He tells her that he will arrange a marriage for her, but Aria wants none of that, so she makes a deal with the him. If she learns to sing for him, she can't be married off.

"𝗧𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁?" 𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗱, 𝗲𝘆𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗹.
Enter Mr. Dark & Mysterious instructor from the forbidden/haunted tower. He's reluctant at first, but agrees to teach Aria to sing. Lots of late night warm ups and singing lessons if you know what I mean.

“𝗗𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲.”
This is a short story, so there wasn't much depth or background. It did wrap up pretty quick for my own liking. The setting is very mysterious with a touch of macabre and fast paced. I did like it, but the love story was a bit underwhelming for me. A good read if you need a break from heavier ones.

Read this if you like:
• determined heroine
• song and music
• magic
• dark secrets
• steamy romance
• can be read in a couple of hours

Girl... Okay.

I liked it enough to finish it, I GUESS. There was interesting bits, some intriguing writing going on. But, God, is this contrived and a little corny. The atmosphere was nice, at least.
