The smut was good but the plot was boring and the characters were basic.

This was my first Lynsay Sands book, and even though it was the 10th book in a series I've never read, I was able to read this without feeling like I was missing something.

Pros:
- Characters were likable
- I felt like I was in the Scottish Highlands with them
- Good plot and slow burn romance

Cons:
- Female leads actions sometimes were a bit childish for a 22 yr old (which in those times was pretty much middle aged)

Now that I'm aware that there is 10 other books and one of the stories is of the Aunt, who was almost a nun... I will be reading another Lynsay Sands book

It was a book. I enjoyed the book. I did not like it or love it, I will forget it in two months.

I love Lynsay Sands novels - although I always have a blast reading them she has a style and a certain plan for her books.

Which is great - it's like picking up a familiar blanket - you just settle in for what you know and feel comfortable with

there is always someone trying to kill the Main female for some reason or another

I have to say this time I was surprised by the reason and who it was in the end. I would never have guessed or figured it out

And I appreciate that

DNF

There were many points during the first 80 pages that I thought I had misread, because none of it was making sense. In between her multi-hour long horse riding naps, one which occurs during a strong rainstorm, she manages to save three baby animals. Who she then forgets about constantly. Gets heavily frisky while horse riding carrying said animals amongst soldiers. That was the point I decided to DNF, how ridiculous.

While it was a fun read, but the twist towards the end killed it. In one her previous books (Always) she also made the hidden villain an over zealous Christian who hated sex and killed in the name of religion. Then the second guy attacked, and I was just like?????tf?????

That ending was kinda boring damn. Where’s the expected epilogue where she’s pregnant haha come on now. Also the motive for the “evil” was so so weird like it’s historical romance so I guess it makes sense that sex and propriety could be motive but still, it was a bit odd.
