Reread of one my favorite series. This one introduces Lori & Bill's twins and shows them settled into Finch.

Aunt Dimity Digs In by Nancy Atherton (1999)

3.0

Another charming, quirky installment of the Aunt Dimity series. The fun aspects are all here: the magical journal through which Dimity communicates with Lori, Reginald, the pink bunny with a mind of his own, and the facility to cause trouble, Lori's loving and long-suffering husband Bill, and, of course Lori herself.

This book adds in Lori and Bill's twins Will and Rob, and a number of the villagers of Finch, where Dimity's cottage that Bill and Lori live in, is located.

The impending Harvest Festival allows for the demonstration of the odd, but endearing aspects of small-town life and people. The festival is imperiled by an archeologist who may have found a Roman cache of antiquities, a missing document stolen from the Vicar's house, the interfering and bossing of the town's resident "empress", and the romatic travails of Lori's new nanny, Francesca.

All in all, the book is a sweet, fun romp through a small English village. I enjoyed it!- read

A fun read! I started this one and now want to read the others. It's a fun light read.

This is an early story in the series, and it explains a lot about some of the characters.

My favorite so far, except maybe the first one. I would have a hard time choosing. Plenty of Dimity here AND fun (British) small-town hijinks - including a vicar. I think Dimity describes it perfectly when she says: "Witches and ghosts and Martians, oh, my." Just a fun, comfortable, cozy mystery. And one more word that made me laugh: canoodling. :)

I haven't read the other Aunt Dimity books yet, but I will find them. I love the quirky little town and the fact that the mystery wasn't bloody and full of gore like some small town mysteries. I enjoyed the characters and the fact that Aunt Dimity is stuck in a book. I look forward to reading more of these.
