Only Agatha Christie can leave me deeply disturbed but in the Best possible way.

Not sure why this is listed as a Poirot story. It is part of the harlequin tea set collection and does not involve Poirot. Instead it is a short story that is more in the horror genre.

The short stories in this collection appear as they were originally published in the newspapers they were written for. I found the foreword or afterword for each story very useful as each sets out the context of the story.

If you have read other collections of short stories by Agatha Christie, you may therefore have come across some of them already before. Though as these are the original versions, they may therefore slightly differ from their later versions.

A very enjoyable read as always.

3.5-4 ⭐️s

I really enjoyed these short stories of hers and found a real comfort reading them. Some were markedly more engaging than others - owing to complexity, characters, and genre. But all were easily in the 3-4 ⭐️ range.

While there are multiple short stories that feature Poirot in this, I wouldn’t personally count it as part of his series (as any will see in my own bookshelf tagging here on GoodReads) since he doesn’t make an appearance in all of these short stories.

Absorbing and interesting short stories with afterwords. I especially loved 'The House of Dreams' and 'While the light lasts'. A very good read.

I love Agatha Christie but this was just not quite it for me. The writing style is absolutely stunning but a lot of the stories feel unfinished.
