Thanks to this book I actually understand, why Direktor Schneider voted “guilty” when we watched “die orestie”. Him not being guilty marks the end of a matriarchal society and the beginning of a patriarchal system, where murder on a man is worse than murder on a woman. Where mothers are perceived as creatures of the household, who can’t raise proper men. I think the book reflects Dilemmata of mostly Penelope. She can’t be the perfect leader of Ithaca, a womanly female and a mother all at once and has to sacrifice everything for being a queen, Ithaca deserves.
