Hmmm I did expect more, this wasn’t bad at all, it just was kinda giving me nothing new. It’s an easy to read, weirdly laid back mystery.
I never connected with any of the characters enough to care what happened to them. That’s not to say they weren’t interesting, I quite liked learning about most of them. That being said, there were so many to keep track of that I didn’t really manage to retain each individual story.
The twists in here were okay, I wasn’t surprised, but that’s mostly cause I didn’t care much. I quite liked the ending note. But I was not into the FBI agent waking up, that was dry.
So yeah, middle of the road, not enough character, yet too many characters!

Fun read. Disappointed with the predictability but happy with the ending. It’s my 3rd Swanson book and I guess I should read Agatha Christie now… overall, glad to have read this one.

This book was so disappointing. There was a heavy emphasis on social commentry but it meant that it totally lacked any real character or plot development. Everyone seemed to be a stereotype , but one that didn't really add anything to he story. For example there is a whole chapter which has no other takeaway than that And there were none was once called something else and now it is inappropiate to use that word. It is a chapter about a law enforcement character who although making a connection just decides not to tell anyone and so doesn't help. It also baffles me that most of the characters never interact and he FBI/Police do nothing to really protect the names on the list even as they start getting bumped off.
