I loved it, the ending was terrifying, reading Ambrosio's descent into evil was gripping. Some of the subplots (e.g., the history of don raymond) went on for too long and distracted from the main plot, but were enjoyable in their own right. I liked the constant imbalance between Reason and religion, where some characters dismissed the religious and supernatural as irrational, and then in the next scene, someone would be haunted by literal ghosts. Gothic and spooky

Had to stop reading because of its depiction of SA. I am not in the headspace to handle it.

This is a horror novel, but written in the 18th century. It's totally freaky, and gets banned a lot, so you know it's good.
