My 5 year old loved this book. It was a perfect read aloud and I adored the main character and the fact that her being a girl was not the entire plot.

actually, this was another childhood gem. I think Harry's invisibility cloak fascinated me so at first, because it reminded me of Igraine. Everytime I see the cover, I remember exactly where on the shelf it was, and then the other shelf it was on, and how I would lie on the ground and read it again, until I was told to move my body, not just my eyes, and reluctantly placed the book back on the shelf, with a last longing glance and the knowledge that my next free second would be devoted to it once again.

Funny and entertaining!

Kids really didn't seem to enjoy this one very much and it's my first audiobook failure with them. :( Bummer.

I enjoyed this so much more than I expected to. The cover art is really unappealing. I like the British one so much more. Apparently this was originally published in German in 1998 but only just translated. I can see some of my second graders picking this one up after we finish [book: The Castle in the Attic].

I recently rediscovered my old copy of this from when I was probably 8 or 9. I loved this book as a child, and I obviously read it a lot, judging by the cracked spine. So I decided to reread it and see what I think of it now. Well, I still love it a whole lot and I'm so glad I found this book!

Overall a cute children's book about magic and chivalry. Except that sometimes it seems to have lost something in the translation. I'd give it a 4 star rating, but for that. Kids would enjoy it.

When I saw that it was a fantasy book about a girl wanting to be a knight, I immediately thought of the Alanna books by Tamora Pierce. This is not like those at all. It is, however, a cute introduction to magic and fantasy for younger grades. I would recommend it to students who want books about magic, but are in the mood for light-hearted fare.
