Intimacy’s not a key, you know? You don’t just get close to someone and expect that to open a door and everything comes tumbling out like an overstuffed closet.

First Impressions
Jackson Steele and Sylvia Brooks return in the continuation of the Stark International series and this one is where we get to see some twists and turns that will build into a crescendo for the finale of the series. In this book we get to see our beloved couple explore their sexual chemistry and the emotions that lay just beneath the surface, we also get to see some conflicts arise both in their careers and their personal lives that build in the conflict I know many would consider this a “filler’ book and while it has some of those aspects you also will see some aspects of other characters and their drama and how they connect with Jackson and Sylvia. We definitely get some fun Stark delights so if you are a Stark original fan, then this is definitely a series for you

They could find their demons together. Yin and yang. Control and submission. Pleasure and pain. And on and on until they send each other spiraling over that invisible line where it all became the same. Where pain gave away to pleasure, and control revealed itself.

Summary
Jackson and Sylvia continue on straight after book one, where they are working on rebuilding their relationship, establishing trust, and learning to forgive the past and to embrace their future. But it isn’t as easy as they think that it will be. Jackson is working on trying to fit into the Stark realm, as there is great animosity between him and Stark. Then we have Sylvia who is trying to work on overcoming what haunts her past while also trying to work with Jackson and give her full trust in the bedroom and explore their explosive chemistry and a new level of dominance and submission that is explored in the bedroom (and many other locales). But while they are learning on establishing what their relationship means, there are secrets that are unfolding, and will their relationship be the tidal wave that is about to crash down upon them?

What I Loved
Despite the fact that this one could be seen as a “filler ” installment, I found that this one was really crucial as it built their relationship in just the right way that seemed to fit this pairing. I really enjoyed seeing the way that these two are working their relationship and seeing them explore their sexuality on deeper levels. J Kenner definitely knows how to write her sex scenes because this book was smokin’ but in all of the best of ways. There is also such a deep level of intimacy that is slowly built throughout the story that you can help by cheer this pair on., I will say that this book ends with a cliffhanger, and I won’t reveal what that cliffhanger is, but just make sure you have book three ready in hand to continue on with. There is also a manner in which we see the involvement of side characters and the way that they impact our characters. I really enjoyed seeing how it ended up fitting all together in the end. You definitely won’t be disappointed in seeing Jackson and Sylvia continue on with their story and seeing their love deepen.

You are mine, Sylvia From the first moment I saw you in Atlanta, I knew there was no other woman for me. Not before and not ever again. You are the light that rfills my days and illuminates my nights.

What I Struggled With
There could have been more build-up of the plot in some areas, but other than that, was a solid installment.

Overall View
On My Knees is such a well-earned romance that crosses boundaries, opens the eyes to family secrets, and builds into a climax to prepare the reader for the grand finale~ truly a BREATHTAKING story to tug at your heartstrings and with enough heat to fog up the windows!

I need this, and I know that he does too. This connection. This union. It’s power and strength and solidarity. It’s proof that we can get through everything that has and will happen. That we can weather the gathering storm. It’s torment and treasure.

08/13/2015 - Ugh. Sex. Drama. Repeat, ad nauseam. DNF AT 31% - Chapter 11. :(

11/01/2015 - Going to give it another try. Library copy this time. Finished it, but with the same complaints from my first attempt.

Jackson Steele is back baby, and I couldn't wait to dive right in!

On My Knees starts up right where Say My Name finished, so you will need to read that one.

Just as we think secrets from both Jackson and Sylvia's past have all been revealed - BAM - we get more. It seems that we still have a fair way to go before we get to their HEA - if they get one?

As we learn more about what has happened in the past, what is still happening today, my heart just breaks for both Jackson and Sylvia - for different, but just as difficult reasons.

Oh boy, the spark between our lovelies are still going strong, and this makes for a sexy, sexy story. Hearts are put on the line, and as their relationship keeps developing, there is more and more at stake.

Jackson and Sylvia sexy times are off the charts hot! Phew, still fanning myself!

I loved that we got a lot more of Damien and Nikki from the original Stark series. Whilst they aren't in a lot of scenes, they are an integral part of Jackson and Sylvia's story.

There are a couple of biiiiiig questions that are going to need to be answered in the 3rd and last book, and even though I have a thought about one of the answers, I am sure that Ms Kenner is going to make that thought look silly when I get to the 3rd book.

Now I am impatiently waiting for book 3, Under My Skin, to find out how our lovers story ends.

This is book 2 of the Stark International Trilogy and the title fits the book as you are definitely on your knees waiting to see what else will occur in this storyline. Jackson is still fighting to stop the movie release and Sylvia is still fighting the blackmailer who happens to be the same person attempting to attack them both.
This book fills in many holes from the first book so don't let the first book deter you cause book 2 fills in the missing pieces and will leave you on your knees asking why you ended it this way and hoping that book 3 is released now. Luckily I read this all at once or you'd being throwing your reading device in suspense.

There's a LOT happening in this second book of the trilogy! Just one surprise after another, so much that this one was hard to turn off. Jackson and Sylvia face many challenges, learning to work together personally and professionally.

One of the biggest issues in this story is trust. While Sylvia and Jackson have resumed their relationship, there's still quite a bit to discover about each other. Both have some serious, explosive secrets and figuring out the right time to share them with each other is awfully tricky. Fortunately, we're included in each character's reasoning as he or she worked through them. However, I came into this a bit wary of Jackson. You'll have to read the story to best understand where that comes from:)

Abby Craden continues to deliver a strong performance though I continue to feel parts are overly dramatic. In her defense, they seem to be dictated by the script and when applying voice to the words, they're just amplified.

I'm continuing to enjoy the series (yes, I'm surprised) and this one ends in a cliffhanger. The good news is that a 20-minute clip of the next book is included to ease the angst. It worked. Stay tuned and I'm looking forward to listening to the last book in the trilogy.

I just love Sylvia and Jackson, but at the end of this book I am thinking to myself, HOW MUCH MORE CAN THEIR RELATIONSHIP TAKE?
You feel all of their joy and then your heart breaks for them and you feel like crying right along with them.

Now, I just have to wait for the last book to see what transpires with Jackson? Will Sylvia lose him for good this time?

This book is an immediate continuation of Say My Name and it is good to see the outcome of where Book One ended. This is an angsty ride with a lot of downs and not many ups for Jackson and Syl.

Jackson reveals his truth to Damien Stark and I was wanting so much to get inside the relationship between these two stubborn, controlling men. I really enjoyed the bond between Syl and Jackson but again I craved more depth to their connection than creative sex. This series remains very intriguing and I look forward seeing where their story goes.

On My Knees picks up right where we left off after Say My Name. The secrets that we learned in the first book will be shared with others, sometimes willingly other times not. The main storyline in On My Knees is learning how Jackson and Sylvia work through these secrets and discovering if they can hold it together for each other. If they are strong enough to be more than the secrets they share.

In the first book I have to admit I was not a huge fan of Jackson Steele, he came across as shady and aloof to me and I couldn't bring myself to feel an attachment toward him. I am happy to say that in On My Knees I have fond myself growing to like him. We learn more about his past, more about how he became the person he is due to the treatment he received as a child. His fears of abandonment plays a key role in this story.

Sylvia I actually found frustrating this time around. She holds tightly to her secrets but then castigates Jackson for his, even if she does this quietly and to herself the reprimands are there and they are affecting the relationship. Yeah, there are some pretty big secrets that come to light but she felt so hypocritical at times. At the same time I loved her because she's fighting hard for what she wants. When lines get blurry at work she accepts the challenge and stands her ground. I also loved that Jackson doesn't hold her choices against her when it comes to her job. I love that he can say he knows how important her work is to her and not make her feel guilty over her choices or try and hold it over her head. I also loved that Damien sees her for the strong woman she is and while he has to make his own choices, choices for his business he doesn't shove her thoughts and opinions aside simply because he is uncomfortable with a situation.

Speaking of Damien we see a lot more of him this book and I was glad to have him back. He's such rich (not trying to be puny) character so having his thoughts and emotions alongside Jackson and Sylvia's added a needed layer to the book. It truly allows us to see a depth that would have been missing with out him, in particular reference to Jackson's childhood.

The one thing that I had a little trouble accepting this time around is the sex scenes. Don't get me wrong, J. Kenner writes a steamy sexy scene, it was more the reasons for the sex. I had to go in with a really open mind and constantly remember that these two people are messed up. It just got frustrating at times that they would have sex simply because they were angry, because they were happy, because they wanted to fight with someone, because they needed some release from their emotional state. I like a good sex scene as much as the next person but sometimes there can be too many sex scenes just for the sake of a sex scene. Maybe now knowing all (well not all, I am not sure we will ever know ALL this couples secrets) I need to go back for a re-read and try and see it in a different light. On that same note though I love how much they get each other, how open they are with their needs and wants How they fit together so well and fight to work through things.

On My Knees leave us with another cliff hanger, but I think knowing what we know now it was easier to accept that then it was in the first book (I am not a huge cliff hanger fan if you didn't guess, haha), it feels more validating to know that we got so many answers even when we are hanging on the edge waiting for more. I am looking forward to Under My Skin and hoping that this couple gets a break because they are certainly getting put through the ringer!

This is a great read for any contemporary romance readers who like their plot with a side of steam, and a big helping of secrets and suspense. On My Knees shouldn't be read with out having read Say My Name first, it is not a standalone. If you enjoyed Damien and Nikki's story (The Stark Trilogy) you will definitely be a fan of this series.

~HAPPY READING~

I think I liked this one better than the first. And the ending.. I think I'm really mad about the ending. What a cliffhanger! The third book better be coming soon.

These are fast, one-sitting reads. This and the previous books are a continuation of a prior series, just focusing on different characters. So now I will have to investigate the original series, with Damien. Oh darn.

A review will post on my blog at the end of the month (June 2015), as part of the other's release blitz.

Thanks to the author and her publishing team with providing me with an ARC for review!
