I’m shocked to see anyone rate this book less than 4 stars! This book was just as phenomenal as the first! Maybe a touch slower but that’s it. You see not only the war taking place around them but also the war taking place within themselves. There was so much growth in the characters and then many set backs. They struggle to get over their own pain and prejudice which lead to poor choices and betrayal. But you also saw love and sacrifice, vulnerability and hope. I loved this book and cannot wait fo

I went back and forth with this one, but in the end I loved the character’s arcs. It took me awhile because Zelie and Amari gave me whiplash with all their drama, but I have to admit they both came into their characters perfectly. Now I’m just ticked I have to wait so long for the final novel.
