I liked it! I think I would have loved it if the story was more flushed out

The art is gorgeous, but the story hovers somewhere in the realm of a dream that doesn't make any sense. There's some body horror and teeth falling out here, so would not recommend to people for whom those would be issues.

Pretty out there in terms of plot, with the slightly unsettling art very much supporting the dreamy and confusing setting. The art was good but the subject matter was just creepy; I didn't realize how creepy the whole thing would be beforehand. Maybe the story would make more sense if I had read it again, but didn't feel the drive to read it a second time. Glad to have picked it up!

This is more a book for looking at, than for reading. An odd tale of a girl, Mila, who meets another girl, Agnes, who seems to be a ghost, who died when she was five, yet, still continues to grow older, and who’s younger brother can hear her, but not see her.

She swallowed an octopus like creature, that apparently killed her.

And yet, it still lives inside her.

Agnes is very odd, as I guess one would be as a ghost, and tells tales of her teeth leaving her to fight in wars.

Which is what ends up happening.

The pictures are lovely to look at. There are some bits that don’t make sense in the story, but still, a fairly good ghost story.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

While I liked the fantasy element, it took an odd turn or two, and it took a while to get where it was going. (e-galley from NetGalley)

I was attracted to the breathtakingly beautiful artwork, but after seeing Watersnakes by Tony Sandoval listed with the Lgbt tag on Goodreads, I knew this was a graphic novel I needed to read. A shot read, and a bit weird, the artwork remained stunning and the story itself was well paced and touching. Parts were weird/confusing, though I assume this was mostly just to go with the dreamy art style. The ending was well deserved and I can still remember the feelings this gave me long after finishing. If the artwork is your aesthetic, I definitely recommend picking up Watersnakes by Tony Sandoval. Absolutely impressive artwork and a solid, stirring story.

Thank you to Tony Sandoval, Diamond Book Distributors, and NetGalley for allowing me the extreme pleasure of access to an advanced reader copy of “Watersnakes” for an honest review.

I wasn't quite sure what I expect when I started reading this graphic novel, only that it was set like many fairy-and-fantasy stories began, with someone living their regular life and then being touched once by the supernatural, which sent them down The White Rabbit's hole like Alice. Mila is the Alice of this new read and realm, and there is darkness afoot, with deep supernatural happenings, of ghosts and ghoolish warriors.

I felt the story didn't have enough depth to it, but I was mesmerized by the art, which all looks like paintings.

That was beautiful and scary at the same time. The story is very unique and artworks are equally amazing.
Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in return for my honest review.

This was dark, twisted, bizarre, and pure magic! Prepare for a weird ride and maybe not the book for you if you have any teeth phobias. This was a unique story that had me finishing it in one sitting.
