I would really appreciate it if this series would stop kicking me in the feels, thank you.

But seriously, this volume was AMAZING! I ADORE festivals and the Tanabata festival was everything that I could have asked for. The artwork was breathtaking during the fireworks scene and Yashiro looked fucking ADORABLE in her yukata. But my gosh, Yashiro going back in time and meeting Hanako as a human was just so heartbreaking. Seeing this young, sweet, naive child be so excited to spend time with someone knowing what he does in the future is devastating. Hanako's expressions during the fireworks and when Yashiro says good-bye both struck a chord with me and shows how talented Aidairo is at conveying emotion through expressions. I know I've said this multiple times already, but damn I loved that fireworks scene!

I also loved the opening chapter where Hanako messes with Yashiro's hair. I know it ends on a comedic note, but I thought it was really sweet and cute that Yashiro let Hanako mess with her hair, and that Hanako wanted to. Subtle sign of affection on Hanako's part, love it! I also loved when Hanako convinced Yashiro to give Kou her Home Ec muffins, even though he was jealous that Kou was on her mind. Usually I don't like that kind of behavior from a character who clearly has feelings for the main lead because it often is used to excuse jealous behavior, but since Hanako's situation is so complicated I'm more okay with it. That and Hanako isn't nearly as annoying as other male romance leads, so there's that working in his favor.

Finally, the chapter with Mitsuba was so sad. While I don't like him being with Tsukasa's crew, Mitsuba's clear sadness at not knowing where he belongs was so poignant it broke my heart. I also like how Mitsuba's situation can appeal to young kids even though he's a supernatural. Young people want to find a place where they belong and it's common for them to feel like they partial belong in certain places, but never fully. The use of shadows and strong facial expressions conveys this point perfectly and made an otherwise cliche theme feel impactful.

There's more that I can discuss, but I feel like we'd be here all day if I didn't stop here (story of my life with this series). Can't wait for volume 9, especially after that creepy cliffhanger!

Review for volumes 1-8
I love this series, it's so sweet and it has a beautiful artstyle. In volume no 8 I particularly loved younger Hanako.
My favorites are Kou and Teru!
