This cozy mystery really has an appealing cast of characters in a place that you would want to visit.

My patience for this series may be waning. I generally enjoy Longworth's tendency to privilege atmosphere over actual plot, but in this case, the mystery is poorly written and the pace is a bit slow. I also find Antoine's character development a bit abrupt. I'm not sure if I'll be reading #4 ...

This was a lot sadder than the others. The author seems to be finding her stride in this one. I liked seeing Antoine and Marine together a bit more. There did seem to be a lot of traveling here and there. It was nice to learn a bit more about some of the other police. It was a good read though

An enjoyable read taking place in the local area, with few clues as to who is behind the mayhem and plenty of leads up blind alleys, that traverse the countryside, visiting some excellent gastronomic spots along the way and introducing a bit of background to the Judge that will leave the reader wondering what that was all about.

An enjoyable book with great characters, setting, and mystery. I love the setting of Aix learning about the characters and touching on effects from WWII. Always enjoyable like trying to figure out what happened and wine.

So many things going on here -- wine theft, three disparate murders, secret nazi love affairs, old people wandering around with Alzheimer's, medical scares, three or four burgeoning romances, unrequited crushes, family secrets. It was a bit much.

Once again, I preferred almost all of the characters over the two main ones, Marine and Antoine, who I find to be annoying and/or boring. I wish there was a spin-off featuring the dandy wine thief turned expert police consultant. And are Frenchmen really that emotionally volatile? Almost all the male characters were, at some point, on the verge of or actually bursting into tears.

That being said, I do love forbidden wartime romances (which was just one of about twenty plot lines going on) so that was fun..

Plot and characters look interesting, but can't stick with this one.
Lame writing, vacuous dialogue ... and of course she teaches writing.
