Lots of cool premises in this book. Knife storms, dude, knife storms. Lots of kids being brooding and sad about stuff. Robotic parents. Electronic devices are run by "gods". Cool stuff. There isn't a lot of exposition so the characters drift in this surreal landscape. I liked it more than I thought I would. Art was decent.

This was such a delightfully weird little graphic novel! I’m so glad I happened across it at the library because I probably would never have read it otherwise. You definitely have to think outside the box a little to get into this story, it’s definitely way out there! But that’s also part of what makes it so good, it could never happen but thinking about it is wildly entertaining. The artwork pairs perfectly with the story as well and really brings it to the next level. My only minor complaint is that it ended so abruptly, we really got ZERO closure. I do still think it’s worth a read though, especially if you like weird, outside the box graphic novels!

This book is incredibly and delightfully weird! I really enjoyed it and flew right through it. The illustrations are great and the world building is so fun. I particularly enjoy how much you are dumped into this world and have to put the pieces together as you go. Can't wait to read the sequel!

What a strange story. I had a hard time following at times. The base of this book is about children that are somehow made that then make their parents who are machines with souls. Everyone has a death day - they cannot die before it or after it. I'm not sure how I feel about all of it. Just plain strange.

This book was creepy as hell. And has a remarkably original idea at its core (with the kind of world-building that doesn't actually give readers any exposition whatsoever a la Jasper Fforde). The characters and their relationships were a bit bland for my taste, but I was thoroughly hooked by the story and illustrations.

Now THIS is my type of story. There’s no exposition, it just throws you straight into it and you have to pick up context clues to understand it, and (without getting into spoilers) the ending is vague as all hell. The premise is super cool and I’m excited to read the other two books in this series.
