Lady Victoria Georgiana Charlotte Eugenie, better known as Lady Georgiana Rannoch, is a great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria, 34th in line for the throne, and penniless. It's the winter of 1933 in London and Georgie's friends and relatives are all going to the Riviera for the winter, or at least it seems that way. It appears as if Georgie is going to be stuck in depression-ravaged London, or worse have to go to the family home in Scotland and stay there alone for the winter. However, Queen Mary steps in and gives Georgia an assignment--recover a priceless snuff box that had been stolen from one of her collections by Sir Toby Groper during a New Year Honors reception. Luckily for Georgie, Sir Toby is living at his vacation home in Nice so she sets off for another of her adventures. A wonderful period piece that captures the strict English class system and features such personalities as Queen Mary, Winston Churchill, Coco Chanel, the Prince of Wales, and that American Woman. This is a perfect beach book and that's exactly where I read it. I was surprised to discover that this is the fifth in the series and since I have another beach trip coming up, I know exactly what to pack.

Naughty in Nice is one of my favorite books in the series so far--I love the change in venue to the French Riviera, and I'm glad our Georgie got a stroke of luck in this one!

In Naughty in Nice, Georgie finds herself homeless, so the queen sends her to the French Riviera on a mission to find a stolen snuffbox. Georgie is lucky enough to land herself in the same villa as her mother and Coco Chanel, narrowly avoiding a few weeks with her horrendous sister-in-law, and when she is asked to model, finds herself in the middle of first a jewel theft, and eventually two murders while being seduced by a charming French millionaire. But as always, things aren't what they seem and Georgie has to unravel the true identities of the players in this mystery!

The good:
I loved that Georgia had a stroke of luck and got to spend her time being wined and dined instead of abused, for once. The plot moved along quickly and I enjoyed the multiple mysteries and interesting characters. Jean-Paul and his many secrets was one of my favorite characters and I hope we haven't seen the last of him, and I liked that Georgie had a small break in the inevitable pining for Darcy.

The bad:
More Darcy, obviously. I also would have liked to see more of the back story with Georgie's surprise relation. That part was super interesting, but felt rushed.

Can't wait for book number six with my favorite accidental detective!

Georgie sure gets into a lot of sticky situations. Murders seem to follow her. Inconceivable - but I love the characters too much to care.

Slow start, murder didn't even happen until almost 1/2 way into the book. Pacing picked up towards the end, but ended rather abruptly with random death of the half sister and deserved death of the killer.

I'm really not a fan of romantic misunderstandings that could be cleared up by, you know, having a conversation with the person you're supposedly in love with.
