The latest book in Her Royal Spyness mysteries is another fun romp with royalty in the 1930s. This time, Georgie and readers get to explore the French Riviera. There are a number of exciting new characters including the dashing marquis, Jean-Paul, and Coco Chanel and her business partner, Vera. Bowen's historical note indicating what pieces of history were incorporated into the story was very fun. Of course, many previously introduced characters make their appearances, including the mysterious Darcy, Queenie the hopeless maid, and wonderful Belinda. There is quite the little twist in the story too. Great addition to the series!

These books are light and fun, but still have good mysteries and interesting historical context. I just relax in and enjoy every moment.

If you want anything mindless, but pleasant and sweet, this series is highly recommended. I pull one out when I need something light and comforting. These are practically fluffy, romantic stories disguised in oh-so-transparent mysteries.
The temperature of Lady Georgie’s libido rises as she, her mother, and Coco Chanel spend time on the Riviera, where British people go to let their hair down. The plot was tighter in this book than in some of the earlier books, too. Even if I hadn’t been laid up with a cold and in need of distraction, I would have thoroughly enjoyed this book.
I miss the beginning situation, solving a mystery while juggling her maid service and pretending everything is fine.
I do love her Grandpa helping solve the mysteries and Darcy's ...whatever that is.
Less fun than the others but still enjoyable

I liked this one enough. Certainly better than the last one. The clues were there: her father vacationing often, Georgie looking more like her father than her mother.
It's always a good time when Fig can be brought down a peg or two.
Though, it doesn't make sense for Georgie to go to great lengths snooping for murder clues, and not just flat out ask Darcy if he has a secret family. Even if he lied (Darcy does have many secrets), she at least would've done her due diligence, rather than jumping to conclusions (again) about his sister. Her childish tantrum was unbecoming, even for a spoiled heiress.
Germany being tied to the ongoing plot in many threads (Wallis and Edward, Georgie's mother, Coco Chanel, Hanalova) is intriguing bc we know war is impending. I'm interested to see how Georgie and Darcy get wrapped up in WW2.
