What a FUN book! Tessa just keeps delivering for me. A roguish rake (rakish rogue?) and his two wicked wards can't manage to keep a governess, until Alexandra. She's devious enough to teach the girls in their preferred way (piracy, dolls that keep "dying", etc) without their notice, and she's beautiful and kind enough to tempt Chase. Will he be content with teaching Alex the ways of pleasure? Or will he want...more?
This book is hilarious! Chase KNOWS how bad he is, and leans into it with his dirty jokes, foul language, and seductions. The girls and their perpetual doll funerals and other silly ways were the perfect amount of plot moving/comic relief/interruptions to Alex and Chase without taking anything away from our main characters. Alexandra's knowledge that she just can't fall for Chase doesn't stop her and it's all precious.
See also: sickbed/caretaking (historically accurate!), FMC in STEM, and sex lessons (of a sort, anyway)!!

The beginning was somewhat shaky. I disliked Chase immensely, and Ugh...he was such a shallow rake. Somewhere along the line, I settled and enjoyed the slow building romance. The girls seem to have made this story; loved them to pieces! I appreciated the overall theme of empowring women.
"Their interests are mischief, disease, petty thievery, and plotting crimes against the house staff."
Overall, it was a good read and I look forward to the next installment.

More of a 3.5 but rounding up. HR is not my go to genre but Tessa makes it as enjoyable as possible.
