In reading the reasoning for the banning of Halloween ABC, it occurred to me, these books (Amphigorey) were given to me as a child, and I LOVED them. Creepy poetry, creepier drawings, and I still love them.

Totally excellent collection of Gorey's short works. Gorey himself believed that these are best appreciated in their original format as small picture books, and I agree, but since it's hard to find a lot of his stuff I'm grateful for the existence of this collection.

Of the 3 Edward Gorey collections so far, this is my least favorite. Even saying that, there are still some great stories in this collection. I thought ‘the Blue Aspic, the ‘Epiplectic Bicycle’ and the ‘Sopping Thursday’ were great stories. There were also several stories in here that didn’t work for me. There were a few other stories too.
I still want to add this book to my collection someday. There are better places to start than this one though.
