Good mystery, but hate the concepts of child-teacher relationships that are VERY present... and seemed to be brushed by... and the ending was NOT what I was hoping for... disgusted by how it ended for certain characters... was a tough read, and the first of Fridas books I've read with sexual content... and it involves CHILDREN. NOT COOL.

3.5 stars only for the twist at the very end, the only one I wasn't expecting, even though it's a bit of a plot hole too

This started off good, loved the mystery expected from the author. Then the first twist was very uncomfortable. But there has to be a happy ending right? Wrong. Epilogue final twist ruined the whole thing for me. 5 stars for “didn’t see that coming!” 1 star for the main underlying theme.

I am usually a big fan of Freida’s work but this one missed the mark for me. I find the light-hearted depiction of childhood abuse bizarre and damaging. It was disappointing to see no trigger warnings printed at the start of the book, despite being published just last year. There were some good twists at the end but for me it was all overshadowed by the overarching adult/minor abuse storyline throughout.
