i feel like this is a 2 star book with enough 3 star elements to bump it up. it was sweet and tropey and i enjoyed the meta of evie being a romance writer who doesn't believe in love. the setting was gorgeous and really added to the romantic wintery feel of the book.

the reasoning for them not getting together felt quite forced and stupid and the 3rd act relied heavily on the miscommunication trope. the pacing could be a little slow and sometimes the dialogue was quite cringy. that said the happily ever after was satisfying.
