A rather insipid book in spite of having a very interesting concept as the foundation of the story. The problem here being the protagonist Joanna. At the very start of the book she's in a dilemma and the book branches off into alternating chapters depending on the choice she made, dial 999 and call the cops (reveal) or run home (conceal).
Joanna however is dumb, clumsy, disorganised has her priorities all confused and tends to overthink everything. So the story on either path is not going to be pleasant. It is in fact a painful read. The only reason I put an extra star and made it two is the way the book ends (though not fast enough).

I really didn't know how to rate this one. I feel on the fence about it. Overall, the concept was very interesting and intriguing,but I feel like the execution could have been better? Overall, ok read but I probably wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I found it had a lot of "blah,blah" that didn't add anything to the story and it felt like it was added just to boost the word count or something.
The choice spins out two stories at once- kinda like a choose your own adventure, in which you choose both. the chapters alternate between the outcomes of a different choice at a key moment. story was average but the exploration added value.

I liked the premise, with a "sliding doors" dual narrative based on one tough choice and the execution with no easy resolution for the main character.
