love and the plot twist was CRAZYYYYYY but also quite emotional/sad in moments. Sometimes slow moments but those moments in the book were also very informative and interesting!

UGH. Read this for a book club, knowing I’m not fond of Jodi Picoult, and got… exactly what I expected. I don’t mind a good plot twist, but hers always feel so manipulative. I was looking for it, I did figure it out shortly before it was revealed, and I was just annoyed. Without giving away spoilers I’ll just note that this one… wasn’t even original. It’s been done. I did love all the elephant bits. That was beautiful. The story wrapped around them? NSM.

I loved this book. The changing perspectives really added to the intensity of the book and made the twist reveal really satisfying - my jaw DROPPED. I do believe that parts of Alice's POV were dragging out the length of the book unnecessarily. I understand that the research Jodi put into this book is unmatched, but every tiny factoid about elephants being dropped felt a bit empty at some points. However, this book was so much fun to read and the re-readability is super high. I will definitely be recommending this to others.

The flip is unexpected. I could make a great joke about it here, but it would automatically give it away then. I’ll be mature and stay quiet. Story dragged on a bit longer than needed, but it kept my attention, and it was good enough.
