Al parecer este es el actual origen canónico de Superman, reemplazando, tras la n-sima crisis infinita (ya no le pongo ni mayúscula) al de [b:Superman: The Man of Steel, Vol. 1|154808|Superman The Man of Steel, Vol. 1|John Byrne|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1308362342l/154808._SX50_.jpg|149423] de John Byrne o al subsiguiente [b:Superman: Birthright|8172|Superman Birthright|Mark Waid|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1343584198l/8172._SX50_.jpg|11126] de Mark Waid. Al parecer hemos cerrado el círculo y todos los cambios que introdujo el primero en la continuidad de la : Silver Age han sido descartados, no solo en lo argumental sino también en lo visual. Rescatamos al lamentable Metallo Precrisis, a Superboy, a Krypto y al Parásito y visualmente intentamos conseguir un Superman y un Clark lo más parecido posible a Christopher Reeve. Esto hace poco fluidos los dibujos, obligados a mantener la caricatura. Para el cohete y Kriptón volvemos a desempolvar la Edad de Oro del personaje.
Por lo demás la historia ramplona y sin la originalidad o la fuerza de las dos citadas anteriormente.
Menos mal que en dos o tres años volveremos a destruir el Universo DC y reiniciar los personajes.

This is a really good Superman story. Even it is really only a stepping stone to a larger story, I highly enjoyed it and wished it was a bit longer and more fleshed out. But in the end, who doesn't love a good Superman/Brainiac brawl?

This is a good origin story for Superman, though Geoff Johns basically just re-worked Superman: The Movie.
I hate the costume reveal. Superman (or Superboy) should always be revealed in the costume for the first time in an epic or heroic way.
Gary Frank's art is great, except the way he draws Superman. It's kind of creepy how he basically draws Christopher Reeve (and fails so terribly on the mouth). Just draw a comic book Superman.

Nothing too new In this portrayal. I enjoy Johns reverence for Donner's Supes with the willingness to add a few colorful characters to the Daily Planet. Also notable was seeing Kal-El's Boy Scout ,ask slip a bit at the end - without becoming that wretched Man of Steel movie.

Fantastic, artwork is even better than Last Son and I felt the story was just as entertaining. Last few panels are heartbreaking, extremely well done. Brainiac was a great villain and I absolutely loved how much they made Superman look like Christopher Reeve in the last few stories I've read, really touching.

Geoff Johns once again proves his writing prowess through masterful characterization. With a story and characters that all comic readers know well enough to pass down for generations, Johns finds those subtle yet defining moments that are either so much fun to relive or were always so obvious they forever passed us by. The pencil of Gary Frank, no stranger to human expression, delivers both warmth and humor while diving right in to the action when needed. This gentle tweaking of the Superman mythos should serve as the bible on how to carefully retell and update a story without the barrage of a retcon cannon.

The fact the artists makes him look like Christopher Reeves is just the decadent icing on this amazing story-cake.
A little something for every kind of Superman fan (well, except the grimdark&gitty fans; those guys are weird), cannot recommend this read to even the most casual of fans of the Big Blue Boy Scout.

It’s the story we all know, but this might be the most clear-cut, definitive version of it I’ve read yet. Unfortunately, most writers can’t seem to do anything with Superman once his origin is over, so hopefully I have some more luck with non-origin stories in the future.
