I really enjoy the mysteries in the book and Will Trent is an interesting character, but the r-word was used so many times. There was also a lot of judgement about a character that they called the r-word. There were a lot of other outdated ideas, ideas that would have made me cringe even in the year this book was published. I'm not sure if I want to continue this series because of this. It's jarring and isn't necessary to the story.

I'm getting more and more curious about the other series Will Trent was born from. Once I'm done with this series, I'll have to get on that one. This is book three, and I'm continue to be impressed by the quality. Will Trent may be one of my all time favorite fictional characters now.

I enjoyed this book -- and I am enjoying this series. I thought the pacing was alright, the characters are okay, and the plot was decent.
