This book was fantastic. Added to my favorite books list. One of the best YA Sci-fi books I’ve ever read. Noemi, brave. Abel, selfless. I don’t know what else to say except YOU HAVE TO PICK UP THIS BOOK. GIVE IT A CHANCE. IT MIGHT CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
Thank you Claudia Gray

This book was ok for me. I've read similar books that I liked better. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it either.
3.5, not the best book i've ever read but it's still a nice one, I loved the badass mc, the theme and concept!
Only thing I’m mad about is I didn’t borrow the second book when I literally had it in my hands because I thought I wouldn’t be able to finish the first one in 21 days
I know it's only February, but this book is definitely leading as my favorite book of 2017. I absolutely love the story between Abel and Noemi, I liked that the romance wasn't so in your face and mostly played a back seat to the rest of the story. The adventures they went on and all the different planets were so amazing to read about and made me wish so much that I was living in this world, despite the current war and awfulness going on.
The descriptions of each planet really made me feel like I was there and I could picture exactly what they were like. The other characters in the book are fantastic as well and I really liked all the different personalities that were introduced in this book. I can tell that so many more great things are going to happen between these worlds and everyone that was introduced and I can't wait to see what happens to Abel and Noemi!

I'm reviewing a week or so after reading and can say the most memorable part is still Abel. I loved being in his head and watching his growth. His wit paired with cold logic was absolutely hilarious. He totally stole the show and I may read on just for him. The religious themes in the beginning felt heavy handed to me but eventually made a little more sense. I found Noemi a bit annoying and I struggled to connect with her. This could harken back to the religious parts which usually are not my thing. Overall it was fun but I wasn't left dying for the next book.

A fun space opera with two likeable protagonists. I like the way Claudia Gray starts the two (Noemi and Abel) off hating each other, then slowly opens their eyes to each other's points of view and characters. The story moves at a good clip, and there's some great character growth in each of the protagonists, though Abel clearly does the lion's share. And though the story wraps up nicely, there are enough questions left open that I'm on board for book two.
This was a great action-packed space adventure!
