Fear. Regret. Hope.

Those were the three main feelings I felt coming from every single character. Whether helping to provide rescue or sitting in the submerged air craft, everyone went through those three emotions in waves.

Oh my gawd, I was invested from page one. The writing felt cinematic and I was just taking it all in like a movie I could not take my eyes off of. The writing pulled me in like no book has ever done before and to that, I say, bravo! My emotions are still trying to settle as I write this review, and I love that for me!

I started this book with tears reading about the absolute intensity and terror of a water landing and ditching, and ended the book in tears because of the experiences had by these characters, and their ability to find comfort in suffering. The ability of humans to find family through trauma. It left me thinking about how easy it is for your world to change, and how precious it is to love and be loved. This book was truly amazing.

I found the story to be exciting, tense and interesting. Yes, a little far fetched, but much more grounded in reality than her previous novel, Falling. Enjoyed it a lot.

Another heart pounding, stressful, well written aviation thriller by this author! I am ranking this one a little lower than the first one because I kinda got a little lost in some of the technical aspects of this one, since I don’t know anything about underwater welding or submarines. I liked the character dynamics, but there were maybe a few too many characters for any beyond the main three and the captain to super stand out beyond their one line descriptions (the old couple, the young guy, the unaccompanied minor, etc). I liked that the stakes were high and no character felt safe. I love closed-room survival stories, where the characters have to be creative with what they have in their spaces in order to survive. This book also felt very cinematic, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it becomes a movie at some point. I would definitely recommend this one for fans of the author’s first book!
