An exciting ride (crash?) buttttt some of the physics at the end really tested the limits of my ability to participate in suspended disbelief.

Woo hoo!!! A fast paced adventure thriller that was so hard to put down…this is a fantastic summer read. I was blown away by the initial plane crash scene, I really felt like I was in the plane thanks to Newman’s descriptive writing.

It reminded me of Jurassic park in terms of family fun + scary, and if you are afraid of flying I definitely would NOT recommend but I loved it!

Just finished “Drowning” by TJ Newman. It’s the story of an airplane crash and some of the crew and passengers are trapped in an air bubble in the airplane 200 meters below the surface of the ocean. It reminds me of 9/11 in a lot of ways in that your fate lays in the balance of every choice you made that day…go this way or that way determines whether you live or die.

It was very fast paced and stressful as the Navy and Coast Guard try to figure out if they can save the folks left in the plane. I very much enjoyed that part of it however, I don’t see the Coast Guard deciding to listen to a contractor on letting them run the mission, so that part wasn’t very realistic to me. Some of the technical jargon got a bit much Dow in the weeds too.

Three stars from me. I hear they’re making a movie from the book and I think in this case, the movie will likely be better than the book.
