I think it's time for me to call it quits on this series because (1) the rest of the series isn't out in audio yet, and (2) I'm bored. The blurb for this sounded promising, particularly the bit about Jamie having dreams/visions of Lucien before they meet in real life. But that isn't explored much at all. We aren't even shown any of these visions on-page, they're just briefly mentioned in passing. The visions—even though they show Lucien committing 'monstrous' deeds, which would make most people at least a little bit wary—are intended to justify Jamie's immediate acceptance of Lucien as his mate, thereby keeping the story low angst. And that's the crux of the problem with this series. Low (or high) angst can be frustrating when there's no believable reason for the characters not to be (or to be) in emotional turmoil. The stories in this series have so much potential for angst, which makes the lack of it all the more frustrating. There's also not enough tension or intrigue in the plot to keep me actively engaged. I didn't hate the book, it was just pretty meh, hence the 2.5-stars rating.

I loved this book! Jamie was adorable! I loved learning more about his gift and watching him seduce Lucien! I wasn't sure what Lucien's book was going to be like because the guy needed a good redemption arc after the first two books. I am perfectly happy with how things worked out for him in this book! I really adore him and Jamie together and can't wait to see more of them in future books.
