This was a creepy little thriller with an interesting backstory. I did not see the big twist coming, which was good fun as the reader, though I found the eventual unveiling of who the killer(s) were to be really predictable. The dual timelines made for a nice reading experience, and it was easy to get sucked into the story. I struggled a bit with how unlikeable I found the narrator, but that was ultimately part of the charm of the book.

Predictable but very entertaining! I really enjoyed the minor through-line of our MC actively working against typical horror tropes - I’d love to see more of that.
Started off interesting enough from 2nd half was weak, especially the resolution. I’ve read others that I like better from this author so will still read from them again. Still an ok time if you are just looking for a summer beach read.

A dark summer psychological mystery thriller. Yes, some of the twists were predictable. However, the story has both a present day and a past mystery from 10 years prior that as the reader found myself trying to solve alongside the main characters. The story is told through dual timelines, though mostly more "present" than "past" with the date stated at the beginning of each chapter. Both timelines feature a group of female friends, which at times became a little confusion trying to keep track who everyone was. The beginning seemed to drag a little, though the numerous characters to keep track of may have added to that, but the end really picks up speed. Overall, this was an enjoyable read.
I read this book while also listening to the audio book, narrated by Laura Jennings. She did a great job, and I highly recommend the audiobook.
Thankyou NetGalley, St. Martin's Press, and Macmillan audio for the arcs. All opinions are my own.

Predictable, but gotta love a locked room (or island) plot. I could put together generally how each character was going to be involved, so nothing was very twisty. The ending was very dramatic and probably didn't need to be so much. I wish we got a little more into the scandal Tessa was involved in. Overall though, an easy read with enough going on to keep it entertaining
