Love the format of these books in telling a history that is usually glossed over. Glad that Lewis included some of the descension among the civil right leaders. Can't wait for book 3.

These books just do such a great job of getting across so much information in a fairly small amount of space. As with the first one, the marriage of the text and the art works perfectly.

This book puts into perspective the struggles that African American folks have been struggling with for the past sixty years now. The parallels between John Lewis' speech in 1963 and the struggles that we see today are too striking to put aside.

Would highly recommend.

Book two of March covers the Freedom Riders, Lewis' rise within SNCC, the increased police brutality and public violence against peaceful protest, and the 1963 March on Washington. It ends with the 1963 bombing of the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama.

A profound story, coupled with amazing artwork, continues to bring the spirit of history alive throughout it's pages. On to book three...

Like with the first installment of this trilogy, I really loved this. Although I believed I already had some knowledge about the Civil Rights Movement, this book showed me I didn't know all that I thought I did. I, along with many other people, only really learned about the highlights of the movement; some examples being: sit-ins, marches, freedom bus rides, the March on Washington. But these books go even deeper, given that the main author/character for these books was a participant in these historic events. So far, these books have opened my eyes a lot to everything that happened in detail.
Two down, one more to go, and I'm sure I will love it as well.
