Probably just not cool enough to get it. Like Kinfolk but totally missing the mark.

How to live a fabulous life

I would happily live inside a Kate Spade party.

Love Kate Spade. Love this collection. It's fun, frothy and delicious.

I really like Kate Spade's products, especially the bold blocks of color mixed with black & white graphics like stripes and polka dots, with a dash of gold. This is basically those inspirations on a mood board in a book...not much else. Very mod 60s feel -- bright and carefree. Also, I know that no-caps lettering is part of Kate Spade's brand identity, but it's annoying in a book.

Vibrant, cheerful, and pretty but not packed with content. A nice coffee table book. I love the look of it.

Best for: I’d have thought me, seeing as I love etiquette and entertaining books. So … not sure.

In a nutshell: Large format, colorful etiquette and entertaining book.

Line that sticks with me: N/A

Why I chose it: I collect etiquette books. I even started my own version of an advice column (in website form). I like making things look pretty. And this book looked like fun.

Review: It wasn’t. I suppose a book written by a brand is probably not going to be the best.

I mean, it isn’t horrible. But it’s hard to read. There are pages full of quotes (as in, two pages with maybe ten words spread across it to pad the book). There are pages with random vignettes from people who I assume I should have heard of, talking about how they entertain. There are recipes. There are suggestions for games - some of which sound kind of fun. There are decor recommendations.

It just wasn’t that fun to read. I only found myself making note of a couple of the suggestions, which is not like me. I don’t know. Maybe I wasn’t in the mood, or maybe it wasn’t a great book. Probably a little of column a, a little of column b.

Gorgeous photos of fascinating women. Perfect coffee table book to read/look at here and there and find inspiration.
lighthearted fast-paced

I’m still uncertain what the purpose of this book is. If I was sure it was primarily supposed to be an aesthetic collection of new and historic photography, then I would have loved it. This is a visual stunner with a few select tidbits of advice and interest.

This book has no capital letters.
As an English teacher, the constant nagging feeling that I should get out my marking pen made it a stressful read.
