Very good read. The details are amazing, and at parts I got scared, even though this is fictional! Definitely recommend it

As a Seattle-brat at heart, this book was wonderfully grounded in the atmosphere and local touchstones of Seattle's youth - like May was an old memory who let me walk in her shoes.
It was also a touching tale of friendship, of two girls believing in one another and braving a mystery that was alternately disturbing and wonderfully fairytale-esque. Also, there was an utter lack of unnecessarily fraught love triangles, or any overt love story at all, which I find refreshing in a book about two girls running for their lives with only around 200 pages in which to do it.

Cherie Priest has a touch that imbues anything with magic and darkness as one, and Kali Ciesemier brought that duality to life beautifully.

An especial recommendation to anyone who grew up creating stories and drawing comics, especially with their best friend, especially in Seattle. Or anyone at all looking for a distressingly fast but captivating read.

This was my first audiobook! Recommendation from the Writing Excuses podcast and read by their own Mary Robinette Kowal. I really enjoyed this, though I'm not sure I would've been as into it in printed form. Gasp! Shocking, I know. I am not a huge fan of graphic novels, and the translation of the comic portions into audio were really well done. It was a captivating, delightful read/listen, with beautiful and strong female characters and a genuine mystery that had me riveted.

This was a thrilling read from start to finish. I appreciated that the author didn't feel the need to burden down this fast paced story with an unnecessary romance/love triangle. I thought the entire story was well paced and I thoroughly enjoyed the comic panels sprinkled throughout. I highly recommend it!

4.5 Amazing plot, great pacing, fantastic characters

A mix of a murder mystery, scavenger hunt, and nerve racking stakes there is nothing I didn’t like about this book homely it integrated comic strips to help drive the story and the hunt very well and I felt nervous and scared at the perfect times and it never felt dragg
