I enjoyed this book much better than the first one, especially the second half! I couldn't stop reading until the end! All the reveals and plot twist got me, I did not expect any of them. The second half alone was a 4 stars but the first half wasn't as good. I really like that the story started off right where we left if at the end of The Inheritance Games but after that I had the same feeling as book 1. I could easily read 2-3 (very short) chapters a day and forget about the book which is not a good sign for me. When I read a book I like, I usually get so into a story that I can't stop reading. Luckily, I did get this feeling in the second half of the book.

I liked the ending and it was a good conclusion for the main plot of books 1 and 2 so I'm a little confused as to why there is a third book (there's even a fourth one coming out?). I would've been happy and satisfied to leave this world at the end of The Hawthorne Legacy. Nonetheless, I'm still excited to read the next book and hope it will be as good as the second half of this book.

I also enjoyed that there was a little more romance in this book
Spoilerand although she did not end up with the Hawthorne brother I wanted, she and Jameson make sense. It was pretty clear since book 1 that she would end up with Jameson but I still had hope for Grayson :')

Now some things/characters that I didn't like are
- Rebecca and Thea (not sure if we're supposed to like them or not). I (kinda) understand why they act the way they do but I honestly would've been happier without them in the book.
- the whole Mellie and Eli plot. Was it really necessary? I would've preferred Toby to be Avery's biological dad so that she could get rid of Ricky for good but it would have been weird considering Toby is Jameson's uncle, adopted or not.
- Skye and Ricky Grambs... I really hope they don't get a redemption arc in the next books. They don't deserve it.

THIS BOOK LEFT ME SPEECHLESS. Oh. My. God. I don’t think I’ll feel the same way about a book again for a very long time. I finished it in bed at four am after two hours of reading. Let me tell you, this book does NOT let you rest. Plot twist after plot twist. Filled with tension and surprises. One page I’d be reading with a neutral expression and the next one I’d be gasping trying to process what just happened. THE ROMANCE, THE WAY EVERYTHING COMES TOGETHER, THE PLOT: masterpiece. I thought the first book would be my favorite at first because it was taking me longer to finish this one, but the end had me changing my mind completely. The last hundred pages made up for any seconds that passed with a neutral expression, if there was any. My mind is trying to wrap around how the author came up with all of this but can’t. I’m conclusion, I think I’ll spend the next six months thinking about this book nonstop.
