The tone of the whole thing was very simple which made it boring but perfect as introductory material. It was off-putting that the narrator put so much effort into pronouncing the Spanish names correctly, but then some of the Nahuatl pronunciations were off, so that irked me. Regardless, I look forward to seeking out more material on the Mexica and/or on the conquest.

Great account, especially when read in conjunction with Bernal Diaz del Castillo's account, "The Conquest of New Spain."

Good book! A straightforward and poetic telling. Sometimes I found it hard to emotionally latch onto anything, but I imagine that's a common thread in history books. I struggled to truly feel the context of everything, but I finished the book feeling like I had a new understanding of this event. Certainly an essential read for Mexicans/Spaniards, as well as those interested in Mexican history.
In case anyone cares, I'd actually give this 3.5 stars but you can't do that on goodreads, so I'm telling you here. 3.5 stars, yay, 3.5!!!!

I don’t really want to give this a rating but it was a super easy & interesting read; as is frequently commented on, this is not so much a textbook as an „easily digestible introduction“ to the topic matter.
