My first time with this author and I will say, I will most definitely be reading more! The story had me cringing, wondering, yelling at Stephanie/Amber, and more. I felt it to be more of an edge of my seat ghost story than I've read/listened to in a long time.

Narration my Colleen Prendergast was perfect! The tension in her voice when it was called for was absolutely amazing.

Another Audible win!

First two thirds: enthralling, terrifying, scariest book I have read all year. Love to read a brum based book, and the men and other spooks were top notch.
Last third: pointless chaff.
It had an ending at the 2/3 mark.. could have carved off 150 pages and had a better story.

Overall a fun horror novel, though I personally preferred the latter half of the novel, which dealt more with the supernatural, than the first, which was more about the real-life terrors of dealing with the "landlords." There were some very tense moments, some very chilling haunting moments, and Black Maggie was especially scary. A fun read, and one that was tense enough throughout to pull me through it in two reading sessions.

This book realllllly dragged for me, maybe because it is a few different stories mashed together.

I felt like each chapter was repeated descriptions of the same few "spooky" events that never built into anything especially exciting. On top of that, the narrator incessantly analyzed each event in the same manner.

"Oh, there was a ghostly presence in my room....BUT HOW COULD THERE BE? For that would not be rational." For 620 pages. -_-

Absolute waste of time. Never reading it ever again. Took me so long to read it and put me into reading slumps multiple times. Plot felt pointless and was very, very slow. At the start I thought that it would get better, I hoped it would. But it only became somewhat interesting and less slow around the 500 page mark. Very sad it didn’t live up to what I thought it was going to be like.
