An interesting and sincere autobiography by Marjane Satrapi. What I really appreciated was the choice of storytelling in a graphic novel form of the war, secularism and depression. That made the tragedy less tragic, painting it with the bright colors of self deprecating and sarcasm, of a little smart girl and later an emancipated Iranian woman. Even though, I don't share the same point of view regarding Communism, I loved almost every other single detail, heart touching and inspiring moment.

It's historical nonfiction in graphic novel form. It feels more personal since it reads as a very personal autobiographical experience, but it had humor in every page and it was so candid. It worked well for me.
