I think I just read it too late in life. Not the kind of book I'm into anymore. Writing style was very juvenile. Makes sense for a teen book, just wasn't for me at this point in life.

16 year old Jess Mastriani has problems: She has a crush on guy that no one close to her approves of, her brother is schizophrenic, her mother makes her wear matching dresses, and her best friend is now constantly insisting in a lot of exercise just because of one "fat" comment made towards her; oh, and on top of that, she gets hit by lightening and now every morning she wakes up knowing where missing children are located.

Jess is not your typical girl, she has a very unique personality and I don't feel like I'm reading about the same girl in a different story (many characters act alike in books), she's funny and tough, a tomboy type of gal. The tale itself is very interesting with much action, romance, and even comedic scenes. I enjoyed Jess's adventure and hope to read the second book. The only reason why I took away one star was because the story itself started a little to slow for me, it wasn't until probably the middle of the book when the action began to start taking place. Recommended to girls who want a little adventure and romance in their lives.

Update: changed the reading from 3 to 3.5 because regardless of the quality this story stuck with me. I couldn’t wait to start reading the second one.

This rating shouldn't really be taken into consideration because this is purely a nostalgic read. It felt good re reading a book that had so much impact on me as a kid. I never realised how much of a pick-me the main character was though and that slightly ruined the enjoyment for me. She's a girl who is good at basically everything except all the things other girls are good at because she's not like other girls... that shtick got annoying FAST. Still, this was an enjoyable read just because of the nostalgia and how original the idea of the book is, though I hope the other books in the series are a bit better.
Ps: Rob was theeee perfect teen hearthrob.

I lurveee Meg Cabot. Even if her plots seem shaky, her characters always remain strong (well, not always. In 'Size 12 is not fat' Heather was pretty harsh).

Jess is awesome. Rob is awesome. Jess's powers are awesome.

Everything is AWESOME!!!

A great one. You root for Jess and every single other person and you cannot put the book down until you know the answers to all of your questions. Not to mention, Cabot has real talent penning honest and true relationships.
