Start with her hairpin articles, check her out on buzzfeed, then decide if you want to read the book. I was somewhat invested in her because I'd liked the hairpin pieces but your results may vary.

enjoyed the writings of the stars I hadn’t delved into (Bogart and Bacall’s film noir romance, for one) but the references to modern day took me out of it, and at the end it left me with a feeling of blegh. very private liberal arts college-y. very routine.

I've been a fan of the author's blog & her series on The Hairpin for quite some time, so I couldn't wait to read her book. Sure, I knew some of the stories and scandals presented already but I still enjoyed the book, especially the ones about the stars in the 40s & 50s (an era I don't know much about). You can tell that Petersen knows her stuff inside & out and is excited to share all these stories with her readers.
