Redd Heart is working to retake the kingdom of Wonderland. Redd is an emeny to all, but not all think she can't be controlled. Redd returns to London to recruit an army to help her take back wonderland from Alice. Alice has problems of her own, a missing personal guard in Molly, an attack from an unknown enemy on wonderland, a murder attempt from the Heats and a surprise from Hatter.

I've started so many series in my life, maybe read up to the second book if they're lucky, then get anxious about how it'll end and give it a break. This year, I want to finish as many series as possible, starting with The Looking Glass Wars book 2.
I read the first book back in high school, and I vaguely remember lagging in the middle when Alyss was stuck in London, before finally finishing the book when I was home sick. I really liked it then and gave it 5 stars, but I'm not sure I'd rate it the same now. Not gonna reread it, so many books so little time. This one has a plus that Hatter and Homburg Molly get a bigger focus, but the rest of the characters are rather flat. Their story is so much more interesting to me than the main one, and I feel like their characters show more growth than say Alyss and Dodge. The villains are very cartoonishly evil, which I can accept to a certain extent because the original villains of Alice in Wonderland were cartoony in the first place, it was intentionally absurd. But at times it was hard to take seriously, especially when this is supposed to be a darker, edgier version of the original story. King Arch's raging misogyny kinda stood out in this regard, if only because he's the only character that acts like that, to that extreme.

This book wasn't quite as good as the first book. It was more of a filler book between "The Looking Glass Wars" and "ArchEnemy."
I really like what Frank Beddor does with imagination, how just about anything is possible. I love the story line, and how things are inspired by Lewis Carol, but they hold their own story telling weight.
You don't even need to have read Alice in Wonderland in order to enjoy this series.

As with The Looking Glass wars, the story line of this series is what saves it from the terrible writing. It was interesting enough to be readable, but not much more. Nonetheless, I'll be reading the third book.

Yeah..... Took me 2 months because I got busy and also a few other books I was reading. Compared to the Looking Glass Wars book 1, I liked this one even more. Probably because of Alyss and Dodge and their friendship growing even more and especially a huge plot twist concerning Hatter Madigan where part of his past comes back to bite him and will have a big test and bigger duty to it in the next book from the looks of it. And of course.......
REDD IS BACK!! Very fun read again and loved more of King Arch of Borderland near Wonderland. And so Alyss is back to fighting her aunt Redd but also has a bigger threat than her aunt and it could cost wonderland in the end badly. Can't wait to see what happens in the final book of this trilogy.

Very good, better than the first. Much more character development, and well written. A little more boring.

I wanted to love this, but I found myself more often waiting for it to be over. Some of the other reviews I've read do a pretty good job of explaining why. I'll read the last one, but probably not for a while.

I loved this book. It was very interesting. I am SO sad that Weaver died! I knew it all along that Hatter was the father of Molly. Queen Alyss was meant for Dodge. I just can't wait to find out what Redd does next!

This was SO MUCH MORE EXCITING than the first installment. The action was more intense and detail-oriented, the romance has gotten more serious, and the villians even more dispicable. Plus.. the cover of this one is just effing epic.
