My blood was my own, and I’d carve through a thousand of them before they would ever take it.

In this installment, it felt like puppets being forced to play a game without knowing the rules, with the stakes higher than ever. There was an epic battle, surprising reunions, betrayal, pesky interference, more hard choices, and a line that now seems grayer than ever. What is going to happen with these relationships?!

“I think I may have forgotten what it is to feel things so sharply. But your suffering riles me.”

“There is a saying my people once had. Gammel kjærleik rustar ikkje,” …
“It means ‘old love does not corrode.”

“Delusional confidence is the key to life,” he said brightly. “If you call a duck an eagle often enough, people tend to start agreeing.”

The bars which trapped me only ever shifting, never truly shattering.

“I’m only filthy in the good ways.”

“The first look you gave me struck a fire in my heart I’d long forgotten was there. The second stoked the flames. And every look since has turned that fire into a deadly force that sees me growing madder with every passing day.”

“I would protect you in this life and the next.”

“I know every way I want you, and in what order.”

I cannot, just when I thought I had an idea of what was going to happen, something changes and everything I had worked out flips on end.

Callie and Montana are such strong heroines, I love that they don't let the men in their lives control them. Even if the men are stronger and built like a dream. ;)

I cannot wait to see the turmoil play out from the ending of book 3.
