Art was amazing, story was meh and poorly paced. Grading on a first-volume curve to get a 3

I enjoyed the first issue and thought it looked promising, but the rest of the volume hasn't really grabbed me. Not a bad read, and I'll keep going, but I'm not loving where this is going so far. (a bit of weird disability and "fixing" people crossover that's not great)

Jessica Drew is one of my favourite Marvel characters and I was excited to read this new series. It starts off in a fairly standard way, but it's fine and fun. But then Pacheco adds lots of unnecessary baggage to her origin and backstory and turns Jessica into a rage monster. None of this is particularly well done or interesting to read, it all felt very forced. Jess' new found family don't seem serve much of a purpose other than to further this new 'roid rage plot. Very disappointing. I'll stick with re-reading the OG and Dennis Hopeless series that ran before this one – which I would highly recommend.
