I know I’m late to this one, but I finally picked it up. I've seen it referred to as “Twilight for Adults,” and I have issues with that: (1) Twilight was always for both teenagers and 40-year-old women, (2) Diana is occasionally annoying, but she’s nowhere near as punchable as Bella Swan, and (3) At least Twilight was short. Honestly, this book is just fine. The academia angle is fun, the witchy parts are great, but there’s so much filler—pages of backstory, endless dinners, and constant scene changes—that it drags. If it were 150–200 pages shorter, it probably would’ve been a really fun read. As it is, I’m not sure I have the stamina to read the rest of the series.
