Vampires, witches, and a society trying to keep it all secret. The only thing that confused me was if two or more paranormals were too close, it would cause the humans to be suspicious. Harkness, I felt, didn't really expand on that all too much but it was the least of my concerns in this book.
Matthew was a bit much, but not morally grey. Just a very old, occasionally grumpy vampire

This was just boring, no chemistry between the love interests, insta love not believable imo. Excessive descriptions, meandering plot.
2'5 estrellas.
Nope. Nope. Nope. The Chosen One TM.

i have so much to say about this. first off, i struggled really hard not to picture matthew as the critic from ratatouille or dracula from hotel transylvania so he wasn’t very sexy in my mind and it was quite gross to imagine. really made me hate matthew. i also just hate him because he’s overprotective and annoying and the fact that he looks like those two ppl to me makes it worse. he’s controlling like a mafia boss or an overbearing father (that looks like the ratatouille food critic).
also! the book took place over just over a month and they were already talking about kids? stfu. what is wrong with you. what do you mean you were “in love” from the moment you saw her? so cheesy it made me want to die. what has happened to the nice art of slow burn romances. the whole time i was like “girl stand up! this is not you! it’s been 3 weeks!” it was so awful like how did she give up that quickly the fuck. like she already loved him and was WILLING TO ABANDON HER ONLY LIVING RELATIVES FOR HIM. and he’s a big fat liar too. a critic-from-ratatouille shaped one.
why the fuck is he so old. when he’s 1500 and you’re a historian
