Artful illustrations are actually better than the text, which is quite good too.

I thrifted a set of Ben Hogan irons a few weeks ago (Apex Plus irons from 1999, very nice!). So then I got onto a kick learning about Ben Hogan. This book is part biography and part (well, mostly) his teachings on how to swing a golf club. I started reading this earlier in the month when I came down with covid and was isolated in a back bedroom. I took a club back there with me and practiced the lessons in the book. It was a good way to pass the time (I got hooked on rewatching Doctor Who as well - the 4th Doctor).

Did I absorb any of it? Did the lessons make me a better golfer? Well, based on last week's outing I'd say 'definitely not yet'. I think if anything all of that new information messed up my swing rather than improved it. But isn't that the way when you take in a lot of new information all at once? I expect it'll take some time for it all to settle in and come naturally. But I did hit some nice shots here and there. And with the new Hogan clubs! So there's hope.
