Things We Left Behind by Lucy Score

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5)

Genre: Romance

About 580 pages

In the last book of the Knockemout series, we finally get the story of Sloane and Lucian. For years there has been tension between them, both sexual tension and hatred. But After seeing their friends fall in love over the past few years, they’ve softened up a bit which is how their fighting turns into foreplay. In an effort to prove how wrong they are for each other, they decide to sleep together one time. But that one time didn’t accomplish what they had hoped. Now they are questioning if they can forgive each other for the past and if there is a compromise on what they want for the future.

This was by far my favorite book in the Knockemout series! The primary reason for this is the build-up we got on Lucian and Sloane in books one and two and their long-standing history. I also liked how this book jumped back and forth between the past and present. Score did a fantastic job neatly wrapping up the series in this book!

Favorite Quote: “Sometimes you have to stop waiting for something to happen and start making it happen.”

Wow, what a great book. I’m a sucker for friends to enemies to lovers, and both Sloane and Lucien were great characters in the last two books. They absolutely brought it as main characters! And for vanilla sex, that shit was spicy! I’m obsessed.

Dark Romance, Friends to Enemies to Lovers, Lots of Trauma, 3 3/4 🔥

I was so excited for Sloane and Lucian's story, with so much tension and back story between then shown in the previous two books, I was so interested to know their past and where their book would go.
I whole-heartedly believe their story, their romance and their past trauma and trust issues. They both hurt each other and they emotionally have their journey together throughout the book - it's not rushed, it's not forced, it's very layered and detailed and it all makes sense to me.
Their love story? It went neighbours-childhood friends-bestfriends-enemies-archenemies-nemesis-enemies-neighbours-friends-lovers and it was delicious!
The only thing that was a let down for me was the main plot thread of Anthony Hugo. I thought it would be more threatening, more tension, more compelling,
but you meet him and then two chapters later it's all wrapped.
I would have enjoyed seeing that thread through for another 100 pages or so, so it felt fleshed out and a solid send off, but that might be just my opinion.
Overall, really enjoyed this whole series. It's very rereadable and I'll find physical copies down the line. I love the Knockemout trilogy. Well done, Lucy Score.
