This book wants so badly to be Chinese Fantastic Beasts except worse because even though it's not written by a famous transphobe it's so misogynistic and xenophobic (both ironic in this context). I bought this at full price hardcover because it looked so cool and sold it back to the bookstore the next week to get something actually good.

the men in this are so awful it distracts from the interesting stories of the beasts. having to read the female main character be constantly berated and harassed (and read her also be in love with these men that treat her like absolute shit) really wore on me by the end, and the repetitive nature of each story/chapter didn't help with that. there's also just a lot of weirdness with how the male vs female beasts are written and characterized. idk! there were elements in this i thought were interesting, but as more and more of the story leaned into the personal relationships with the main character i became more and more bored and then increasingly upset as i realized we were supposed to find these awful men charming.

(4,5/5)Bardzo ekscentryczna książka, wydaje mi się że gdyby była ona dłuższa byłaby męcząca gdyż czytając pierwszy rozdział mało zrozumiałem z początku i czytając dalej dopiero zrozumiałem pierwszy. Ale jak można zobaczyć z mojej oceny nie przeszkodziło mi to na dłuższą metę w przyjemności z czytania. Jest ona skomplikowana w prostocie, niektóre rzeczy omawiałom z moją przyjaciółką gdyż czegoś nie byłom pewne ale mi się to akurat podobało że można ją omawiać z innymi.
Po jakimś czasie (kilka miesięcy) już nie umiałbym za dużo o niej powiedzieć (mam na myśli pół na pół) ale jak ktoś by mówił bardziej do mnie niż ja do kogoś nadal umiałbym coś powiedzieć.
OGÓLNIE polecam serdecznie jak ktoś lubi fantastyczne stworzenia idealna książka.
