This cover must be one of the most fitting I’ve seen in a looong time—it captures the book’s atmosphere very well. As for the content, some chapters stood out more than others. I really enjoyed the imaginativeness of the imagery of some of the beasts, but many things didn’t make sense and random events, such as deaths, seemed to happen just to push the plot forward. The narrator (who I found unbearable) and some other characters behaved so erratically that they all felt bipolar. I know this book had a message, but with all its flaws and conveyed in such a way, it just didn’t resonate with me.

I have trouble figuring out if my issue with translated books is the translation, or the writing. I really liked the concept, but I felt like I was missing something with the lead character in particular. My issue isn't with who she is, but sometimes she felt like 2 different characters. Her personality didn't seem consistent.
