I’m not sure if it’s the audiobook or the translation that made me not like this book as much. It’s superbly well-written, but the cadence of the story still felt off. Also, every section of the novel felt the same formulaic way as well. The beginning portion was really lovely, though.

Basically read this twice, once in Chinese and once in English. I can definitely see why some didn't get/like the story - it took both versions for me to comprehend, and even then there are some allegories I'm still not sure I understand

Już sobie mówiłem, że to będzie najlepsza książka tego roku, że chyba nadchodzi mój nowy ulubieniec od Tajfunów (tym samym spychając z piedestału moją ukochaną "Cytrynę"), ale dwa ostatnie rozdziały całkowicie zburzyły tę narrację. Uwielbiam pomysł na historię o bestiach przypominających ludzi, a przedstawienie ich w formie bestiariusza jest intrygujące. Ale główna bohaterka. Ona psuje mi nieco przyjemność z czytania. Szczególnie pod koniec historii. (Nie zliczę, ile razy mówiła o wymiotowaniu i posługiwała się określeniem, że ktoś ma "młodą i przystojną twarz".)

Nie zmienia to faktu, że pochłonąłem tę książkę i z przyjemnością będę ją wciskać znajomym.
